Speech Therapy Clinical Fellowship

Overview:

At Brooks Rehabilitation, we have more than 50 years of expertise in providing rehabilitation services to our community. We offer excellent care, state-of-the-art technology, and evidenced-based practices to help individuals achieve their highest level of function and participation in life.

Each year our Speech Therapy Clinical Fellowship Program accepts Master’s level graduates who are seeking mentorship through Brooks Rehabilitation to complete their mandatory postgraduate Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with criteria set by the American Speech and Language Hearing Association (ASHA). The Speech Therapy Clinical Fellowship with Brooks Rehabilitation fosters completion of mentorship requirements of ASHA in addition to providing an elevated clinical fellowship experience. Our SLPs will not only be able to meet requirements for their governing body to receive final licensure but will receive:

  • Increased mentorship hours beyond what the minimal requirement is
  • Hands-on learning experiences
  • Professional speaking opportunities
  • The ability to shadow related services and disciplines throughout the Brooks’ System of Care

The one-year Speech Fellowship with Brooks Rehabilitation ensures that postgraduate SLPs receive an experience that is beyond a traditional CFY.

We currently offer two Clinical Fellowships:

  • Adult Medical Clinical Fellowship
    • Fellows work with multiple diagnosis including spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke populations among a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team
    • Fellows rotate through clinical settings which may include inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Pediatric Clinical Fellowship
    • Fellows work with in a multidisciplinary pediatric outpatient setting which provides varied experiences with patient populations and complexity levels

The CF Program accepts approximately one to three fellows per year in each of the above tracks.

Program Highlights:

  • Approximately double the mentoring hours required for a CFY
  • Full salary and benefits with Brooks Rehabilitation
  • Shared experiences with program graduates and our physical and occupational therapy residency and fellowship programs.
  • Experiential learning opportunities in multiple settings throughout the Brooks Rehabilitation System of Care
  • Multi-person cohorts per program
  • Our mentors are program graduates with several years of experience working within the Brooks System of Care
  • Watch one of our current SLP Fellows during their rotation.
