Clinical Student Internships

Overview

The Brooks Clinical Student Internship program provides mentoring and patient (or participant) based learning opportunities to physical therapy/assistant, occupational therapy/assistant, and speech language pathology students. We also offer high-quality experiences for students pursuing degrees in recreational therapy, music therapy, exercise physiology, kinesiology, public health, and others. Depending on their discipline and goals, students have the opportunity to complete an internship at one of our unique care settings spanning the post-acute system of care.

Clinical internships at Brooks Rehabilitation are highly competitive due to the variety of settings and specialties we offer, as well as the robust opportunities you can experience while here with us. Students are provided a comprehensive orientation and are given the resources to identify shadowing opportunities of interest across our system of care. We also invite students to join us for networking and learning events throughout the year, such as Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, Research Connection Events, and many more!

To view our locations, please visit Brooks Rehabilitation’s page.

Administrative/non-clinical internships are available within Brooks Rehabilitation. If interested in a non-clinical internship, please visit our Non-clinical (Administrative) Student Internship page.

How to Apply

School Directed Internship Requests

If your university’s faculty (Director of Clinical Education, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, or Fieldwork Coordinator) helps you identify clinical internships, please have them email us at [email protected] to initiate the process.
This placement pathway is most commonly used for students in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology programs, where academic programs coordinate clinical education experiences on the student’s behalf.

Please include:
  • The requested dates
  • Setting
  • Specialty
  • Minimum weekly hours
  • An outline of where this rotation falls within your training (i.e., 2 of 3, 1 of 3, 4 of 4).
The placement process involves two main steps:

1. The ability of the two institutions to establish an affiliation agreement
2. Our ability to identify a match for a clinical instructor/educator based on your setting, specialty, and location preferences.
