Course Description: 
Functional cognition combines the constructs of function and cognition and uses performance based testing to assess IADL competencies. Results from this distinct strength-based occupational therapy approach can facilitate intervention selection that enhance patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define functional cognition, in terms of the concept’s history and the distinct perspective it provides for occupational therapies approach to cognition and how screening and assessment of functional cognition play a part in the development of the Occupational Profile.
  • Identify and become familiar with screening tests (Menu Task, Medicog)
  • Describe more extensive performance-based measures of functional cognition

The information presented in this course is clinically relevant for  OT, and OTA practitioners.

Course certificates will be provided at the completion of the course for those that meet the course completion requirements. Certificates will be mailed for courses that include a post-course test.
