Course Description:
This course offers practitioners practical guidelines and frameworks for the application of specific therapeutic exercises for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. The philosophies of this course are based on a scientific understanding of connective tissues, physiology and exercise dosage. The course will include both lecture and lab demonstrations as well as emphasis on case study development in order to provide the participant with a “hands on” experience that will carry over into clinical practice.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course the participants will be able to…
- Define nomenclature as it relates to exercise dosing
- Apply the course framework to identify movement deficits, which includes screening tasks and localizing impairments anatomically and across strength qualities, within available testing precision.
- Design targeted exercise prescriptions by defining the goal of each intervention and translating it into tissue-specific dosing.
- Explain how to (OR Demonstrate how to) implement and adjust dosing in real time through observation, assessment, and constraint management during execution.
- Describe how to track outcomes and adapt care by reassessing initial measures and making stay/progress/pivot decisions at appropriate tissue-healing intervals.
- Develop plans of care across timeframes by structuring both session-level dosing and long-term progression.
